The ICOBA Strategic Retreat 2017 was held on Saturday May 20, 2017 at the Rev Angus Memorial hall. Sponsored and coordinated by the Merit award-winning ICOBA 7779 Set, the program was an avenue to discuss and deliberate on how the old boys could continue to support the future growth and success of the college.

Present at the event were notable names like Professor Ayo Ibidapo-Obe (former VC, Unilag), Admiral Akin Aduwo (Rtd),  Dr Mrs Femi Ogunsanya, Mrs Bolaji Osime, Mr Emeka Emuwa (MD, Union Bank), Professor Olufolabi Olumide (Founding VC, LASU), Mr Tunde Dabiri (Former MD, Sterling Bank) just to mention a few.

Mr Agu Imo of the sponsoring set presented to the gathering why the retreat was necessary. He reminded all of the vision of the founding founders of the school which unfortunately had been derailed by so many factors and occurrences but sought the intervention of the old boys to chart a new course and bring the college back on track.

A plenary session took place at the Rev Angus Memorial Hall where a review of the college’s present position was broken down in presentations by five key speakers: Sir Kehinde Smith, chairman of the BOG of Igbobi College, gave the situation on governance while Mr Kunle Elebute presented the financial position. Dr Femi Ogunsanya, Proprietress of Oxbridge College, GRA Ikeja and former Chairperson of the BOG of the college, presented on curriculum and Mr Foluso Phillips, ICOBA President, on infrastructure, rounded up the first part of the session. Mrs Bolaji Osime, a seasoned educationalist and consultant, added to the discourse by enlightening us on what it would take to build a world class school.

The session eventually broke up into four sub-workshops where the key elements of governance, curriculum, finance and infrastructure were discussed extensively. A communiqué on the resolutions arrived at the meeting will be made known later.

Dr Ebun Bamgboye, Chairman of ICOBA 7779 Set, on behalf of the set thanked the National Executive Council of ICOBA for the opportunity to serve and implored the national body to implement effectively the recommendations from the retreat.
